FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can I take my Light unit to a music festival, or otherwise use it as a mobile installation?
The Light units are art pieces intended for display in a single location. They are not intended to be used as mobile installations or at high-stress / high-risk environments such as music festivals. Frequent assembly and disassembly will cause wear.
There are several considerations that went into making our prototype unit that we use as our mobile festival installation which are absent from our production piece. Our prototypes took considerable wear over the course of the 2018 and 2019 festival seasons due to the stressful environment of music festivals - enduring dust, heat, rain, wind, and impacts means our mobile festival unit requires constant maintenance and replacement of parts to remain functional and in optimal condition.
While it's certainly not impossible to turn a Light unit into a mobile installation, just as we would advise against taking a painting or flatscreen tv to a music festival, we strongly discourage such usage with any Light 12 unit.
Q: How is the DLight controlled?
The Light comes fully controllable with an included wireless DualShock 4 controller, and can be connected to your home WiFi network, giving it the ability to periodically check for software updates. Future updates will expand the functionality of your unit with additional lighting modes and integrations.
Q: Do you ship worldwide?
We ship domestically via UPS and internationally via DHL. International buyers may want to consider purchasing the the protective Pelican case, as it is not included with your order and the cost of return shipping may be substantial.
Q: What code library is used to render the Light 12’s animations?
We do not use any prebuilt libraries to render our animations, all of our code is designed and programmed in-house.
Q: Is the Light sound-reactive?
All units will be shipped with hardware support for audio-reactivity, and an audio-reactive mode will be included in our first major software update.
